San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Day One

July 21st, 2011 by Max Allan Collins

San Diego Comic-con preview night started out very well for pros like Nate and me. The pros were given a separate line and were allowed to enter a few minutes early, as a group, while the rest of the attendees were let in at a gradual pace that meant the first hour and a half were a dream…wide aisles you could easily navigate, as you drank in the sights and sounds. But by 7:30 it was packed and sometimes frustrating.

For the first time ever, I saw nary a famous face. But I have already bought enough hardcover books (remember those?) to make sending home a box via UPS a necessity.

Tomorrow I meet with Nick Landau of Titan. Stay tuned until then for an exciting announcement.

  1. Make that two exciting announcements. Today (Thursday) is the First Comics re-boot panel. Also the Vertigo panel, though I am not scheduled to be on it — editor Karen Berger should be mentioning RETURN TO PERDITION, though.
